Working Title: Dr. Howard Eye Care Plus- Beta Test
Author: Jordan Howard
Date: 4/28/10
Brief Profile of Users: Three users were selected for the beta test. One of the users was my father, taken that this website was designed for his privately owned business. And the two others users were two of his employers, that will need to be familiar with using my website.
Think Aloud Task: The three users were asked to perform the following four tasks:
1. Locate the directional page within the website.
2. Be able to list off the insurance companies that his office accepts.
3. Locate the link to Dr. Howard’s yelp page and twitter.
Summary of Think Aloud: All three users were quickly able to locate the directions to the office, by clicking the “directions” tab and seeing the directions coming from both northbound and southbound. Again, all three users were able to list off the insurance companies that his office accepts by clicking the “insurance” tab. For locating the links to Dr. Howard’s Yelp and his twitter sites, it took them all a couple of tries before guessing which tab to choose. The links to these websites are under the “comments” tab. One of them initially clicked the “contact us” tab, while others clicked on the “about us” tab, which is understandable on why they selected these tabs to search for the Yelp and twitter websites.
Summary of Post-Test Interview: All three users were generally impressed with the layout of my website. They felt that it was very easy to use, and clear to understand and navigate throughout the site. They felt that each tab was sufficient to explain the function of each tab, minus the “comments” tab, because of the slight confusion. All three users suggested changing the title of the “comments” tab to something that more effectively describes that it is where the links to alternate websites are located. One user suggested adding more pictures and information about the lenses and contacts they sell.
Findings to be Implemented: I will be changing the title of the “comments” tab to something more applicable. I will most likely change it to “alternate links” or something of that nature. I will also be adding more information in the “lenses” and “contacts” tab, such as prices, brands, as well as styles. I will also add more pictures of the colors of each contacts they advertise as well as the various glasses they sell.
Findings that will NOT be implemented: There are no suggestions that I received that I will not be implementing.
