Problem, Need or Opportunity
My father’s optometry practice has been open since before I was born. Its location is a small, run down place in an old building, located on a busy road. Because his business has been doing well lately, he has earned enough money to relocate to a better, nicer, and more convenient location for everyone. I chose to do my final project on this topic, because I felt that this would be a good opportunity to create a website for his business, since he still does not have one made. It would have biographical information about Dr. Howard, my dad, contact information, directions to the new facility from north and south bound freeways, instructions on how to make an appointment, phone numbers, among various other informational material necessary.
Audience
The audience for this website is directed towards potential clients, already existing clients, and the staff. It can be utilized with ease, and the website URL is directly correlated with the name of his practice. This website can be accessed by teens and parents of all ages with ease, even those that don’t really know how to use a computer that well. Navigating through this website can be done effortlessly.
User Needs
The current website contains the following tabs for categories on the main page: Home, About Us, Frames, Meet the Staff, Comments, and a Contact Us tab. For the frames tab, there will be a list of all the brands and types of frames for glasses and sunglasses he offers at his office. The meet-the-staff tab will have information on each employee, including educational background and basic information so that the client feels more comfortable. The comments section will have a link to his yelp reviews. Also somewhere on the website it will contain a link to his twitter account.
Environment
The potential clients and the clients will be able to access this website from any computer location. They will go to it when they need information on anything regarding making appointments, what frames they offer, and contact information.
Resources and Limitations
As the company becomes more familiar with its new website, I see it helping them to spread the word of my dad’s business, because the website name is easy to remember and direct. The tabs make it easy to steer through the website. I hope that the links to the yelp, email, and twitter websites enhance my dad’s company as well.
General Solution
My plan is to make his website easy to use, with clear concise step-by-step procedures on how to do specific things related to his business. I want the website to look professional and warming. I can visualize this website significantly improving his company, and for the easy accessibility to generate word-of-mouth to the general public.
